Hey there!
It’s me, your self-professed vintage Queen! In this week’s blog I thought I might share some of the fabulously unique antique and vintage finds that I can’t wait to share with you all. And not to mention these are all items currently available for sale on the Betty Lorna Vintage Etsy page.
Discovering amazing antique and vintage items isn’t always easy, but it’s certainly worth the pursuit as sometimes you’e able to find things you just can’t buy nowadays. As a lot of today’s trendy decor and fashion, lacks the charm and style that was so prominent in the early to late mid-century. But before I start to ramble on though, let’s dive into the top picks of the week!
Soup Anyone?

My amazing sister found this beautiful soup terrine dish for me when she was vintage shopping this week. A lover of all things country-themed I was enthralled by the beauty of this dish, and all of its incredible details. I haven’t been able to find much about the history of this dish in particular, but my research indicates that it was released by the brand Cordon Bleu as part of the Franklin Mint Collection in 1986. This exquisite piece is now available for sale on my Etsy account, if you’re interested in adding this dish to your collection!
Hand-Carved Wood Ornaments
This week, I found quite a few antique hand-carved wood ornaments. All with different countries of origin and style periods. My first find of the week though, were these gorgeous early mid-century antique mahogany wood Antelopes.

A beautiful example of African folk art, these ornaments would look great on any coffee table or used as bookends to hold all your valuable books. These Antelopes are truly unique, and the exquisite hand carved details of these Antelopes are highlighted by the natural dark and moody tones of the wood.
After a little bit more of searching I found yet another hand-carved wood ornament, this time a small but mighty Elephant. This stunning piece of South-East Asian folk art, is believed to come from the late 60s to 70s time period as its style and warm and inviting earthy tones are very reminiscent of this period.

Both these exquisite hand-carved wood pieces are now available for sale on my Etsy account if you’re interested in purchasing them!
A Fur-Real Friend
This week I was reunited with one of all-time favorite kids toys – a Furby! These little creatures never fail to cheer me up. Cute and quirky, Furbies invoke such nostalgia of the 90s. Initially released in 1998, this furry animatronic creature captured the hearts of millions of children. In the first year of its release Furby sold 1.8 million units and in 1999 sold a further 14 million! Whilst Furbies are not as popular as they once were, many people, myself included, continue to love Furbies. With online communities out there still dedicated to collecting and even restoring these little creatures.

This little guy is now available for sale on my Etsy account, if you’re interested in purchasing them! A piece of 90s nostalgia, this Furby keychain also makes for the perfect bag accessory. And did I forget to mention that it still speaks after all these years.
